Kibbutz – fall 2004 to spring 2006
”Kibbutz was based on four design studios conducted in the Architecture department: Fall 2004. tutors: Yuval Yasky, Adi Biran This studio was concerned with the generic research questions regarding the Kibbutz as a unique typology that has lost its raison d'etre because of the social and economic changes in Israel. Is it still a valid form of living? Can it contain its unique structure and organization? What will the Kibbutz of the future look like? These questions lead to a series of "What if" scenarios for the future of the Kibbutz movement in Israel. Spring 2005. tutors: Yuval Yasky, Adi Biran The second Kibbutz studio focused on specific case-studies. It was mainly concerned with the physical transformations of the Kibbutz as opposed to its original organization. The students dealt with 'community expansions', suburban neighborhoods attached to many Kibbutzim that dramatically change the existing fabric both socially and physicaly. Spring 2006. tutors: Yuval Yasky, Yael Moria This studio focused on the carefully choreographed relations between the built and the unbuilt in the Kibbutz. The structure of open areas, and the social hierarchies embedded in the organizational scheme of the Kibbutz. “
